Storage & Handling
Lyophilized peptides are robust in powder form and fragile in solution. Nearly all avoidable degradation happens after reconstitution.
Lyophilized powder (as shipped)
- Long term: -20 °C, sealed, protected from light. Stable for years at this temperature.
- Short term: 2–8 °C is fine for weeks.
- In transit: ambient temperature is acceptable. Published stability data supports roughly 30 days at room temperature for most sequences — far beyond any shipping window. Cold-chain shipping is unnecessary for powder.
- Let a cold vial reach room temperature before opening, so condensation doesn't form inside it.
Reconstituted solution
- Store at 2–8 °C and use within 30 days.
- Keep the vial upright and protected from light.
- Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. This is the single largest cause of degradation in handled material. If you must freeze, aliquot first so each portion is thawed once.
- Label every reconstituted vial with compound, concentration and date.
Reconstitution technique
- Use bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) for multi-withdrawal vials, or sterile water for single-use preparations.
- Wipe both stoppers with an alcohol prep pad and let them dry.
- Direct the solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial. Never inject it straight onto the powder — the force damages the peptide.
- Swirl gently, or let the vial sit until fully dissolved. Do not shake. Agitation shears peptide bonds and produces foam that traps material.
- Discard any vial where the solution is cloudy, discoloured, or contains visible particulate after full dissolution.
Concentration math
Concentration is simply the peptide mass divided by the solvent volume added:
5 mg peptide + 2 mL bacteriostatic water = 2.5 mg/mL (or 250 mcg per 0.1 mL).
Adding more solvent does not change the total amount of peptide in the vial — only how concentrated each withdrawal is. Choose a volume that makes your working measurements land on graduations you can read accurately.

Signs material has degraded
- Powder that has visibly clumped, yellowed or gone sticky before reconstitution.
- Solution that turns cloudy or develops particulate after previously being clear.
- A vial that has lost its vacuum seal or shows a compromised stopper.
If a vial arrives in any of these states, photograph it and email contact@klresearchsupply.com within 48 hours of delivery for a replacement or refund, per the refund policy.
